Worship at Church Hill UMC
a Youngstown UMC Collaborative Congregation
We worship as part of our vision to serve as a central hub of deep, mutual disciple-making.
If you are looking to engage in vibrant, transformational worship, Church Hill may be the worship home for you! Each of our weekly worship services is an intentional blend of traditional and contemporary music from every corner of the Christian world; impactful liturgy from a wide range of voices; and inspired preaching that connects Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience.
Revised Common Lectionary
Worship at Church Hill typically follows the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year Scripture cycle that exposes the congregation to nearly all of the Bible. Some special sermons and series may focus on alternate Scripture readings.

The Pastor and Worship Director lead the Worship Team at CHUM, choosing music and liturgy for Sunday and special services throughout the year. Other team members include members of the Chancel Choir and chimes group, lead singers, lay readers, and sound room technicians. We work with the altar guild and Sunday morning hospitality team to create a holistic experience of worship and fellowship.
The Chancel Choir is an integral part of the Worship Team. This SATB group welcomes any who wish to serve the Lord through music. The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 and offers anthems every other Sunday, in addition to singing special pieces from time to time and guiding the congregation in learning new songs.
Some members of the choir also serve as lead singers and soloists, and we welcome guest instrumentalists on special occasions.
A small group of dedicated musicians play Church Hill’s chime set for special occasions. The chimes group currently rehearses on Wednesdays at 3:50 pm and is eagerly preparing for their next service.
